This pretty specimen is also a Jewel Alocasia and is endemic to the eastern part of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. With thick dark, velvety leaves and contrasting white venations, their leaves look like an intricately designed fabric. The underside of the leaves is reddish purple with gives the plant an even more interesting appeal. Little wonder the botanical name given it is ‘reginula,’ meaning ‘little queen.’
Water: Water lightly about once a week when the top 2-3 inches of soil are dry.
Light: Bright indirect sunlight.
Soil: Well draining and retain moisture. Plant it in a medium with a relatively higher pH.
Temperature: Between 21°C and 27°C.
Fertilizer: Once a month in spring and summer. Dilute regular houseplant fertilizer to 1/2 its strength.
Alocasia reginula is considered as the little mini Alocasia, so the height it usually will grow is 30cm and maximum will not be more than 50cm while the leaves can reach about 8-12cm.
